Superheroes & Cartoons At School

Superheroes & Cartoons At School

What was it about?

It's Hall 8's Maxar Charity Committe's event at
Spastic Children's Association of Singapore
(notice both the organisation and the event name's initials are SCAS!)

So I joined as a volunteer for the event :)
Second time volunteering for maxar's event :)

So what did we do that day?
First there was a skit by the maxar comm
(to teach the kids the right and wrong i.e. return lost and found, etc)

Then each of us are paired with a kid.
And we have to bring them around to play at each station :)
(Not allowed to post photos of the kids as some don't have photo consent)
So what did we have indoor?
A photo booth! :)
Proudly sponsored by Epson :)

The Flintstones bowling! :)

And there was a candy floss machine too! :)
But the candy floss melts super quickly.
So my hand ended up sticky :(

Now to the outdoor stations! :)

The hand painting station!
Where the kids' thumb would be painted and they will leave 4 thumbprints.
Each on S,C,A,S on the banner!

The Uncle Ringo inflated balloon!
I've never played his when I was young ok =X
So during our break we went to jump jump! hahas!
See all so happy! :)

The Finding Nemo Station :)
The kids will be given a fishing rod to fish for Nemo! :)
Only one real water pool though =X

SMURFS! :)
It's the throw the ring station :)
The kids will be given a few bangles and they have to throw and loop it around the bottles.

Halloween station?!?
I think it was just a deco by the school in preparation for halloween.
Infront of these deco was tables and chairs.
The kids each made a paper puppet there :)

So we were at the event from 9am-3+pm
It was an ok experience but tiring.
I think it's because we have to keep bringing them here and there.

Then at the end of the event, Cheryl and I met up to go and buy Joy's birthday present.
Will be doing another post on it another day :)

♥♥♥

I think I won't be selling films to my friends anymore I guess.
Sold films to a friend at my supplier's rate.
But I forgot to tell her that I haven't include shipping charges.
And she collect the money from her friends already
and say it would be a lil hard to collect the shipping fee again.
So I ended up losing money for her batch of orders.
It was $0.5 * 32 = $16.
So quite abit lehh :(
But bo bian la. Is I forgot to say still got shipping charges.
But luckily there were other customer orders so overall still got earn a bit.

A Super Tiring Day!

Sunday, 26 June 2011

Those who read my previous post or followed me on twitter would know that I worked for an event yesterday! And that's why I only replied to all the emails late at night :(

It was National Family Celebration's Family Day Out Event and I was working for Transition together with 6 other hall friends and 2 friend's sisters (total 9 of us hired) :)
The event was held at Waterfront Promenade, beside MBS.
Spent a whole day packing goodie bags, giving balloons to kids, educating the public about transition lens, giving out goodie bags, tending the games station, attracting kids to take polaroid photos with our mascot! Was a super tiring day. Had been standing for almost the whole day from 7.30am-6pm!

That place was rather nicely decorated with lots of balloons! Though at the end of the event most of the balloons that were tied there as decoration were gone and people just untied them and took it away. The photo with the balloon is what I took when I reached there at 7.30am! Each booth had a 3m x 3m gazebo (the blue one in the photo). Ours was yellow in colour :) The bad thing that happened during the event was that there was a heavy downpour at around 11+am! But other than that it was quite fun there. Especially seeing the cute kids play our mini golf game there!

While it was raining heavily, we went for our quick lunch! We were only given 30mins for lunch :( So we had no choice but to go to Marina Bay Sands Food Court to eat. And... The food there was super ex! And it taste just like the normal food court food! The ban mian I bought costs $6.20!

By the time the event ended and after we packed up! The NDP rehearsal started! The colour of the sky then was really nice!! Also there were alot of people at the helix bridge! Guess they were there to watch the parade or were waiting for the fireworks later at about 8+pm? There was alot of people seated down outside MBS to watch the parade too!

And guess what? WE HAD FREE TICKETS TO SINGAPORE FLYER! Think it was given by NTUC? As that's what's written on the ticket :) Cause while we were giving out excess goodie bags at the end of the event, one person approached one of our friends and gave her 7 Singapore Flyer tickets! But it was only valid for that day. So we went there straight after work. But there queue there was horrible! See the long queue in the photos above? For those who went to Singapore Flyer before would know that the building is somewhat circular. And the queue which started from the point of entrance almost formed a full circle! Though the queue keeps moving as people enter, the number of people coming is never ending! We waited for more than an hour before boarding!

After you scanned your pass to enter the pre-flight gallery there was a security screening just like those in the airport! The pre-flight gallery is the path you must walk before you can reach the cabins - the horrible thing is this gallery is somewhat like a maze and it was full of people queuing!

Along the Pre-Flight Gallery. There is also a stop for you to take photos! But you can choose not to take if you are worried that you might be tempted to buy the photo :) That was what we did. We just walked through and said we will give the photo taking a miss.

And finally! After waiting for so long with our aching feets! We are near the entrance of the cabin!!

Here's a photo of the Sky Dining cabin. Looks quite nice. But 4 couples inside and it seems a little squeezy and awkward.

FINALLY WE ARE IN THE CABIN!! :)
But by the time we board, we already missed the NDP rehearsal fireworks at about 8pm. We board only at about 8.40pm :(

Moving up! It's better to sit on the right side of the cabin. Then you will have a good view of MBS.
The other side can only see Singapore Pit Building and stuff. Not really nice view.
Actually it's better to take the Singapore Flyer at evening time. It's easier to take photo and the scenery would be nice too (nice colour of the sky!). Cause the cabin is too dark to take photos without flash. And if you take with flash, you can hardly see the background too as the glass would reflect.

When we are close to being at the highest point of Singapore Flyer!

At the highest point of Singapore Flyer!!

After the ride, I wanted to wait for my parents to come and fetch me at Singapore Flyer's Taxi Stand. But... THERE WAS A ROAD BLOCK! Due to NDP rehearsal! In the end I had to walk out to the road opposite the helix bridge to wait for them to pick me up :(

The flyer ride was so-so only. I had wanted to take more photos but were unable to as it was too dark with flash and it isn't nice with flash :( Oh wells. But its an experience on Singapore Flyer! But it's scary when boarding and alighting the cabin! They won't stop the cabin and wait for you to walk out or enter. It will just keep moving! So be careful with your steps if you are boarding/alighting!

That's all for this post! :) Now to get back to replying my emails :)
If you are interested in getting polaroid films, do take a look here! I'm having a spree for instax films! There's an on-going discount of $2 off for every 5boxes purchased and $5 off every 10boxes purchased from now till 27June! I extended it as I wasn't able to reply emails yesterday. :)

Presents From USA! :)

Thursday, 23 June 2011

Yesterday I couldn't blog as blogger's photo uploader was not working :(
Here's the post which I wanted to post yesterday!

The day before yesterday sis's friend got back from USA and brought back some of the stuffs that sis bought for us in USA! She bought coach bags for mummy and grandma. And she bought rings for me and my sis. She has no idea of what to get for daddy and grandpa yet. But she will definitely buy something for them in USA :)

Here's the ring she bought for me and the other sis! :)
It's 4 separate rings that forms L O V E !
We each had a set as she bought for herself too! :) So it will be the sisters ring? :)

Today I went for product training at the trainer's friend's house! They had a doggy there! And the moment they opened the main door, the doggy ran out, straight towards 4 of my friends who were screaming and kept barking at them! lols. another friend, who was also scared of dog, was lucky because she hide behind me and another friend who were not so scared of dogs :) I used to be very scared of dogs too. Till I started looking after someone's puppy.

Shall get ready for work on Saturday! :) It's a family day event near Marina Bay Sands. If possible, I will take photos and share with you all! :)

Sundown Marathon Volunteering! :)

Tuesday, 31 May 2011

Today is my birthday! :) And I'm 20 already! :( I want to stay 19! Though it's only a year's difference, 20 sound so much older compared to 19!! All of you had this feeling when you turned 20? :(

Here's the sundown marathon post! :)
We gathered outside Tanah Merah MRT station at 6.15 and waited till almost 7 then we got a shuttle bus to ECP! After changing, having our first snack pack (cakes, mini doughnut) and briefing, we were brought to our individual venues at around 8.30pm.

Here are the photos I took during the race :) The photos are of bad quality cause I took them using my phone :(

Our volunteer pass! :) I was posted to the ECP route which is the 42km route!!

The place I'm posted to is the ECP turn in :)

We were to stay here and direct them in. It was quite boring :( We started waiting there

Our Star Wars stick! Initially Alexander asked which group want to do a fun thing. He said its Star Wars. But it wasn't that fun there :(
We weren't told our location number. So everytime when a problem cropped up (ie. people not feeling well and stuff), we called him and when he asked who we were, we say we are the star wars people =P

Shadows!

Here comes the first runner @ 10.48pm! We were at the about 12km area. The race started at 10pm. Which means he took only 48mins to run 12km!! The red light is the light of the 2 traffic police bike that follows the first runner!

Our second snack pack @2.25am! (nuggets, curry puff, drumlet) and loads of drinks! Initially we were running out of drink and we asked Alexander to help us get more drinks. After that Xavier came with 2 large bottles of mineral water. And someone else (whom we don't know his name) came with 5 bottles of cold small mineral water! And he later came back with our snack packs and green tea! :)

We got tired of holing the "light saber". So we left it on one of the cones like this to direct them in. We started placing it like this since around 2am. Cause there was lesser and lesser people running in or rather walking in.

At about 2+am they confirmed that the last man have already passed our area. So at 3.35am, we got redeployed to one of the water points. That place was scary! You could see cups everywhere on the side of the tracks!

There was nothing for us to do there! So we just sat and slack. And OMG ECP IS REALLY DIRTY! There are alot of rats and cockroaches there! We initially sat on the bench and didn't see anything rats and stuff cause it was too dark there. Then we walked over to the breakwater and sat there for awhile. Suddenly one of our friend say she saw a cockroach! And we all jumped up! When the cockroach ran into a hole, we all brisk walked out of that place and we went back to the bench. While sitting there, we could see a few rats running on the sand! Then we saw another cockroach and we all screamed! And our guy friend used a cup to cover it. Conclusion, ECP is not as romantic after all.

After we were dismissed at around 6am we ended up not waiting for the sunrise cause my friends were all very tired. Then daddy and mummy came to fetch me. And we went to Bedok 85 market to eat!

I got white beehoon. Daddy and mummy got dark noodles from another store and they bought coffee too. I don't drink coffee so i got grassjelly with less sugar after finishing our food. By the time we were done eating, it was 7am already! But we ending up waiting till 7.30am for the fried dough sticks (you tiao). So I reached home at 8plus and after bathing and stuff, I slept till 1pm!

And when I woke up, I realised I got a lot of mosquito bites! Initially they didn't itch at all. But at night it started itching. And its really itchy now :(

Also, yesterday I went to recee a venue for my hall's SP night and had my hall mates celebrated my birthday for me. Will do a post about it tomorrow! :)
